Paul Saunders is a very experienced radio broadcaster, producer and manager. He has held the post of Programme Director at Radio Clyde (Glasgow), Viking FM (Yorkshire), Vibe FM (East of England Regional station now Kiss) and Galaxy 102 (now Capital FM Manchester), recording significant audience growth at each station.
Paul has won over 30 year major industry awards, including UK Radio Station of the Year for Clyde 1 at the 2008 Music Week Awards. He has led Sony award-winning breakfast shows in Glasgow and Manchester and in 2010 won Gold at the New York Radio Awards, for a documentary that he devised and produced about a day in the life of the River Clyde.
Paul has devised creative concepts such as “Win a Mercedes from Pink” (See TV commercial, right), a listener party broadcast live from the top of Toronto’s CN Tower and “The Great Guitar Giveaway” featuring a month long give-away of guitars signed by artists including Oasis, Sting and George Michael.
Cash for Kids is Radio Clyde’s very successful charity campaign that tackles child poverty, abuse, neglect and disability. Paul was responsible for the content and broadcast of a campaign that generated over £1.1million in 2009.
From 2011 Paul has regularly presented and produced features for speech programmes on BBC Radio Scotland.
